Kamala Harris Slams Trump’s Iran Strikes as ‘Regime-Change War,’ Warns of Risks to U.S. Troops

Escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran have triggered sharp political reactions, with former United States Vice President Kamala Harris openly condemning President Donald Trump over recent U.S. military strikes on Iran.

The former Vice President described the operation as a “regime-change war,” warning that the action places American service members in avoidable danger and risks destabilising the Middle East at a critical geopolitical moment.

In a statement on Sunday, Harris characterised the strikes as what she called “recklessness dressed up as resolve,” arguing that the move contradicts previous assurances made by Trump on the campaign trail about ending protracted conflicts rather than initiating new ones.

“Let me be clear: I am opposed to a regime-change war in Iran, and our troops are being put in harm’s way for the sake of Trump’s war of choice,” Harris said. “This is a dangerous and unnecessary gamble with American lives that also jeopardizes stability in the region and our standing in the world. What we are witnessing is not strength.”

PulseNets learnt that Harris acknowledged Iran’s nuclear ambitions remain a legitimate international concern. However, she maintained that direct military confrontation is not an effective or sustainable strategy for dismantling Tehran’s nuclear capabilities.

She further referenced prior public remarks by Trump suggesting that American casualties could emerge if the conflict deepens, a prospect she described as deeply troubling.

“During the campaign, Donald Trump promised to end wars rather than start them. It was a lie. Then last year, he said “we obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program. That, too, was a lie,” she said.

“And let us all be clear-eyed about what comes next. The President has already said this conflict may produce American casualties. Doug and I will be praying for all of our brave servicemen and women, who we know are undertaking dangerous missions with exceptional skill, discipline, and precision.”

Reinforcing her criticism, Harris stressed that American troops deserve steady and disciplined leadership when decisions of war and peace are made.

“Our troops deserve a Commander-in-Chief who approaches decisions on matters of war and peace with the same steadiness and discipline our troops show every day,” she stated.

PulseNets reported that Harris also invoked constitutional limits on executive war powers, noting that under the U.S. Constitution, congressional authorization is required before the United States formally enters a war.

Calling for legislative oversight, she urged members of Congress to assert their authority to prevent deeper U.S. involvement in the escalating Iran conflict.

“There can be no equivocation in our opposition to Donald Trump’s war of choice, and Congress must use all available power to prevent him from further committing us to this conflict. Our troops, our allies, and the American people deserve nothing less.”

The developing dispute over U.S. military action in Iran has intensified debate in Washington, raising fresh questions about war powers, regional stability, and America’s global standing.
