N1bn Suit: ICPC Submits Detailed List of Seized Documents, Devices from El-Rufai’s Asokoro Residence
Court filings at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja have revealed the comprehensive inventory of items recovered from the Abuja residence of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following a search by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Documents obtained by PulseNets show that the disclosures formed part of the anti-graft agency’s response to a N1 billion suit filed by El-Rufai. In the action, the former governor alleged unlawful arrest, illegal detention, and what he described as an improper search of his private residence in the nation’s capital.
In its court processes, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission maintained that the search was conducted pursuant to a valid warrant issued on February 18 and executed the following day at El-Rufai’s Asokoro residence. The commission reported that its operatives carried out the operation alongside officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to documents reviewed by PulseNets, the exercise was witnessed by El-Rufai’s wife, Hadiza El-Rufai, and his son, Mohammed El-Rufai.
Court records further show that a range of financial, corporate, and compliance-related materials were recovered during the operation. These include investor account statements, asset declaration forms, company registration documents, and regulatory compliance records.
Also listed among the recovered materials are loan documents approved by the Kaduna State House of Assembly between 2015 and 2023, as well as investigation reports connected to El-Rufai and certain associates.
PulseNets learnt that the inventory equally features share certificates, land ownership documents, property files, student financial records, and several powers of attorney relating to different assets.
Additional materials reportedly seized include venture capital agreements, payment instructions, and media-related documents obtained from the former governor’s office.
Beyond physical documents, the commission disclosed that multiple electronic devices were retrieved from the residence. These comprise nine flash drives, a memory card, seven hard drives, laptops including an Apple MacBook Pro and an Elumac Book Pro, alongside several mobile phones.
The list, as filed before the court and seen by PulseNets, also contains 18 other electronic gadgets and a Remarkable tablet with its chargers.
The commission informed the court that all items recovered during the search were duly inventoried, sealed, and preserved for forensic examination.

It further reported that El-Rufai noted in the official inventory that he did not grant consent for access to any of the electronic devices confiscated from his residence.
The matter is currently before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, where arguments are expected to focus on the legality of the search warrant, the execution of the operation, and the handling of the seized materials.
