Ted Cruz Blasts Nigerian Government Over Plateau Killings, Alleges Enabling Environment for Terrorists
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, a prominent voice in the campaign against “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, has reacted strongly to the Palm Sunday attack on the Anguwan Rukuba community in Plateau State, accusing the Nigerian government of fostering conditions that embolden террорист groups.
“Another slaughter of Christians in Nigeria by jihadists, this time on Palm Sunday,” Mr Cruz said in an X post reacting to the attack, during which about 30 people died.
He added, “Nigerian government officials have created an environment in which Christians are routinely persecuted and slaughtered by imposing sharia law and looking the other way at violence.”
PulseNets learnt that the U.S. lawmaker further claimed on Monday that authorities in the United States are aware of individuals responsible for terrorist activities in Nigeria and possess the mechanisms to hold them accountable.
“Those officials should know that the U.S. knows who they are and has the tools to hold them accountable,” Mr Cruz said.
Efforts by Peoples Gazette to obtain responses from presidential aides Bayo Onanuga and Daniel Bwala on Mr Cruz’s allegations were unsuccessful as of press time.
Meanwhile, PulseNets reported that Caleb Mutfwang visited Anguwan Rukuba on Monday to commiserate with families affected by the attack. He assured victims that the state government would shoulder the medical expenses of those injured.
PulseNets also obtained that at least 119 people have been killed in a series of coordinated attacks across Plateau State within the past 90 days, underscoring a worsening security crisis in the region.
The recurring violence and rising death toll have triggered widespread condemnation both domestically and internationally, with critics faulting Bola Tinubu over what they describe as a failure to fulfill the constitutional duty of safeguarding lives and property.
Amnesty International on Tuesday criticised Mr Tinubu, stating that he has continued to release “turgid” press statements condemning successive attacks without taking decisive steps to curb the activities of armed groups.

The organisation accused Mr Tinubu of “failing” to protect Nigerians following renewed violence in Jos, stressing that issuing “turgid statements” to console victims cannot replace concrete security action.
In a related development, Mr Tinubu, through a statement issued by his media aide Bayo Onanuga, condemned the Plateau attack and assured citizens that his administration is procuring advanced equipment to strengthen security agencies in the fight against insecurity.
