Mary Habila: Outrage as Late Physiotherapist Found Dead at David Umahi’s Residence Set for Burial Amid Calls for Autopsy

The family of Mary Habila, the 26 year old physiotherapist whose body was reportedly found naked at the residence of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has fixed her burial date despite growing public calls for an autopsy and an independent investigation into her death.

PulseNets learnt that Habila, popularly known as Mara, was said to be the minister’s personal physiotherapist.

She reportedly died on June 27, 2026, at Umahi’s residence in Uburu, Ebonyi State, under circumstances that have continued to generate widespread public concern.

Following reports of her death, many Nigerians demanded that the Federal Government conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, with some social media users referencing previous allegations that had been made against the minister.

However, while police authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Habila’s death, PulseNets learnt that her family has scheduled her burial for Friday, July 17, 2026.

The announcement has further fuelled public debate, with many Nigerians insisting that an autopsy and a transparent, independent investigation should be concluded before her burial, especially following reports that she was found naked inside the minister’s residence.

Reacting to the development on X, a user identified as @Blue Cheese, who claimed to be from Ebonyi State, alleged that the minister had been linked to similar incidents in the past.

“Y’all don’t know this man. In Ebonyi State he has so many stories of people dying at his hand.”

Another X user, @George Freeman, also reacted to the controversy, alleging that previous complaints against the minister had not received adequate public attention.

“A lot of women have being crying out online concerning the sexual harassment by Dave Umahi but Nigerians doesn’t want to take them serious. Now see the level the matter has gone to.. Dave Umahi has a secret of what he’s doing with those women’s because this’s not only for sex.”

Also commenting, David Ukah expressed concerns over the investigation.

“The case is a walkover for the evil Ebonyi State man because they own the judiciary and the whole investigative office in charge of the investigation.”

Another X user, @Chief Owokigbe90, shared photographs of the minister while making the following allegation.

“Face of a suspected criminal. It is only in Nigeria you will kpai someone and go scot-free because you are in a higher position and nobody can touch you. Only in a crime nation. Law is only meant for the poor in this country.”
