Adeboye: China, Russia Can Only Talk, They Can’t Help Nigeria if the U.S. Attacks — Innocent People Are Dying

Nigeria’s worsening security crisis once again took centre stage at the November Holy Ghost Service, where the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, pressed President Bola Tinubu to impose a strict three-month deadline on newly appointed service chiefs to dismantle terror groups and identify their financial backers.

The appeal came shortly after the President of the United States, Donald Trump, was reported to have considered deploying American troops to Nigeria over recurring attacks allegedly targeted at Christian communities.

Addressing thousands of worshippers, Pastor Adeboye emphasised the need for an uncompromising mandate. “This time, when instructions are issued to the service chiefs, the message must be firm: eliminate the terrorists and also dismantle every network behind them, regardless of how highly placed those sponsors may be,” he said.

PulseNets learnt that the cleric also revisited his past engagements with a former Nigerian leader, expressing disappointment that his earlier counsel for a decisive clean-up of insurgent elements was never fully executed.

He recalled saying to the former Commander-in-Chief: “Many of you still remember when I gathered the service chiefs and said, ‘I am giving you three months to clear these Boko Haram elements or step aside.’”

He continued by lamenting the lack of follow-through after that directive. “He accepted the advice and even moved swiftly at the beginning. But after three months, the results were incomplete. I went back to see him—nothing unusual for us then. Somehow, the media heard about the visit, though they were not present when we spoke. Sadly, he is no longer alive. If he were, I would have asked him again, ‘Sir, why did you not follow through?’”

Pastor Adeboye warned that Nigeria risked devastating consequences if decisive measures were delayed, cautioning that global powers would not intervene in the event of an American military operation.

“When I urge our leaders to act quickly, carefully, and diplomatically, I say so because if America ever launches an attack, neither China nor Russia will come to save us,” he said. “The world powers may issue statements condemning Washington in strong language, but none will step forward to defend us. Britain will not. No foreign nation will. This is not the season for jokes, drama, or endless arguments about labels. Innocent Nigerians are being killed—Christians, Muslims, everyone. Lives are being lost every day.”

He urged President Tinubu to prioritise the eradication of banditry and terrorism with unwavering commitment.

Proposing a diplomatic path, the revered cleric suggested that Abuja should negotiate directly with President Trump for a short-term reprieve that would allow Nigeria to stabilise.

“Let the government engage diplomatically and secure a 100-day window from President Trump. Our newly appointed service chiefs must deliver results within three months—or be ready to step down,” Adeboye advised.

Meanwhile, PulseNets obtained confirmation that Mr Trump has voiced concern over the alleged targeting of Christians in Nigeria and has pledged that his administration would act within its capacity to safeguard Christian communities both in Nigeria and other vulnerable regions.
