Anthony Joshua Hospitalised After Fatal Lagos–Ibadan Expressway Accident — Ogun Police Confirm

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that Nigeria-born British former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, has been hospitalised following a road traffic accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.

PulseNets learnt that the incident occurred around the Makun axis of the expressway, close to the Sinoma area and before Danco, prompting an emergency response from security and medical personnel.

Confirming the development on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Babaseyi Oluseyi, said officers were immediately deployed to the scene after distress reports were received.

PulseNets obtained information indicating that two individuals who were travelling in the same vehicle as Joshua reportedly died on the spot as a result of the crash.

Speaking on the incident, the police spokesperson told PulseNets that the injured victims, including the boxing icon, were swiftly taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

“The Ogun State Police Command confirms a road traffic accident that occurred today in front of Sinoma, before Danco, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway,” Oluseyi said.

“Anthony Joshua and other injured persons were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. Further updates will be communicated as investigations continue,” he added.

PulseNets reported that authorities are yet to release details on the cause of the accident, while police investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
