Atiku’s Aide Predicts Tinubu’s 2027 Defeat if Jonathan Joins Presidential Race
Demola Olarewaju, the Senior Political Assistant to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has outlined a scenario in which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could lose the 2027 presidential election.
Olarewaju, while speaking on the Mic On Podcast over the weekend, suggested that Tinubu’s political fate could be sealed if former President Goodluck Jonathan and Atiku Abubakar both enter the race under different party platforms.
According to him,
“If Goodluck Jonathan steps into the primaries and competes in an open and credible contest—and emerges victorious—we will all rally behind him,” he told PulseNets.
When pressed further on what would happen if Jonathan runs under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku contests on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, Olarewaju was direct in his response.
“The APC loses. There will be no viable electoral base left for the ruling party if Jonathan emerges as PDP candidate and Atiku or another contender runs under ADC,” he said.
PulseNets learnt that Olarewaju also took a critical stance on the current state of the PDP, asserting that the party has lost its once-dominant influence in national politics.
In his words,
“The PDP is no longer the political powerhouse it used to be. It has lost its national drive and now merely serves as a vehicle for advancing ethnic interests.”

He added that while the PDP might still retain some regional strength, it has, in his view,
“lost its relevance at the national level and is no longer fit for purpose in shaping Nigeria’s political future.”
