Court Strikes Out Suit Seeking INEC Recognition of Kabiru Turaki-Led PDP Interim Committee
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has struck out a suit filed by some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise and publish the names of the Kabiru Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee of the party.
PulseNets learnt that the case was dismissed on Friday after the court held that the plaintiffs lacked the legal standing required to institute the action.
Delivering the ruling, Justice Salim Ibrahim held that the plaintiffs, led by the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, failed to establish the legal basis for filing the suit.
PulseNets further learnt that the court upheld the preliminary objection raised by INEC and also sustained similar objections filed by other parties seeking to be joined in the matter.
The judge ruled that the plaintiffs failed to demonstrate that INEC had recognised the purported Interim National Working Committee or that they possessed the authority to institute the action on behalf of the PDP.
As a result, the court struck out the suit for want of jurisdiction.

The ruling marks another significant development in the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP and is widely seen as a setback for the faction seeking official recognition of the Kabiru Turaki-led interim committee.
More details will follow as they emerge.
