The Edo State Police Command has reportedly taken into custody a well-known activist, Precious Oruche, popularly identified as Mama P.

PulseNets learnt that Mama P, who is widely recognised as a vocal supporter of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, is currently being held at the Edo State Police Criminal Investigation Department in Benin City.

The confirmation was obtained by PulseNets from Dr Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, who revealed the situation through an X update on Saturday.

In his words,

“Mama P has been detained at the State CID inside Edo State Police Headquarters, off Sapele Road, Benin City.”

Dr Tanko further told PulseNets that legal intervention is already underway

. “I have just reached out to our Legal Director, and lawyers are being dispatched for her immediate release. We are also calling on more lawyers and concerned Nigerians to rise to her rescue without delay. This is the time for everyone’s support,” he emphasised.

PulseNets also gathered that this latest detention comes in the wake of heated reports and counter-reports of an altercation allegedly involving Mama P and the factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure.
