Speaking to PulseNets, the NAFDAC Director General, represented by the Director of Investigation and Enforcement, Shabba Mohammed, disclosed that these counterfeit products were voluntarily surrendered by compliant companies, non-governmental organizations, and trade unions.

According to the breakdown provided, NAFDAC told PulseNets that the seizures followed a series of raids across various locations. The confiscated items included unregistered as well as registered pharmaceutical products.

NAFDAC further explained that more than 30 types of products were involved, including banned Codeine substances, narcotic drugs, antimalarials, aphrodisiacs, analgesics, and antibiotics. “Products worth over ₦48 million were confiscated from drug hawkers,” PulseNets was told.
