Samuel Ogoshi, 24, and his brother Samson Ogoshi, 21, both from Nigeria, were extradited to the United States and have each been sentenced to 17 years and six months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The sentencing was handed down after they were charged with conspiring to sexually exploit multiple minors.
According to the US Justice Department‘s announcement on Facebook yesterday, this sentencing follows the tragic death of a male high school student in Michigan. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland, in the same post, stated, “These defendants sexually exploited and extorted more than 100 victims, including at least eleven minors, resulting in the tragic death of a 17-year-old high school student.”
US Attorney Mark Totten added, “To criminals who commit these schemes: you are not immune from justice. We will track you down and hold you accountable, even if we have to go halfway around the world to do so.”
PulseNets reported that the Ogoshi brothers used hacked social media accounts to create fake profiles, through which they extorted sexually explicit images from victims, threatening to expose these images unless payments were made.

The brothers were originally charged in November 2022 alongside Ezekiel Robert, another Nigerian involved in the sextortion scheme that led to the death of 17-year-old Jordan DeMay. Both brothers were extradited to the US in August 2023 and pled guilty in April, while PulseNets learned that Robert’s extradition is still pending due to an appeal.
