PDP Faction Declares Jonathan Still a Registered Party Member, Dismisses ADC 2027 Posters
Former President Goodluck Jonathan remains a registered member of the Peoples Democratic Party, the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the party has said amid growing speculation surrounding the 2027 presidential election.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Saturday and obtained by PulseNets through the faction’s spokesperson, Ini Ememobong.
Ememobong dismissed the circulation of campaign posters suggesting that Jonathan would contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress or any other political party, describing the materials as fake and misleading.
According to the statement obtained by PulseNets, the former Nigerian president remains fully registered with the PDP at the ward level.
“We state categorically that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is a registered member of the Peoples Democratic Party under the capable leadership of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.
“He duly registered personally in his ward during the recently concluded digital membership registration exercise — a fact he personally confirmed to members of the Interim National Working Committee during a meeting with him yesterday.
“This clarification has become necessary in view of the provisions of the extant Electoral Act, under which double registration is not only prohibited but also punishable,” Ememobong said.
PulseNets learnt that the faction also raised concerns over alleged attempts by political actors to spread false narratives capable of creating confusion around Jonathan’s political affiliation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The spokesperson further stated that the party was aware that some mischief makers could not only circulate fake campaign posters but may also collaborate with certain individuals in an attempt to drag the former president into what he described as deceptive political activities.
“We therefore put the public, especially the Independent National Electoral Commission, on notice of this malfeasance and urge them to discountenance any such fraudulent activity,” he added.
