Senator Dickson Receives Project SPRINT Country Director Into NDC as He Eyes Akwa Ibom Assembly Seat in 2027
A major political development has emerged in Nigeria’s evolving opposition landscape as Project SPRINT Country Director, Mr. Israel James, officially joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and announced his intention to contest for the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly seat representing Abak State Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
The development, PulseNets learned, took place on April 23, 2026, during a strategic political meeting held at the Abuja residence of the National Leader of the NDC and former Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson.
Sources who spoke to PulseNets disclosed that the meeting centred on strengthening the party’s grassroots structure, expanding youth participation in governance, and positioning the NDC as a formidable political force ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mr. Israel James, who currently serves as the Country Director of Project SPRINT, used the meeting to formally align with the party and express confidence in its ideology and leadership direction.
PulseNets learnt that discussions between Mr. James and Senator Dickson also focused on strategies for promoting the NDC’s policy agenda across the country, particularly among young Nigerians and first-time voters.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Israel James said he was motivated by the NDC’s vision for inclusive governance and sustainable national development.
He stated that the role of state lawmakers remains critical in shaping policies that directly impact grassroots communities and state-level growth across Nigeria.
According to him, the Nigeria Democratic Congress represents a credible and people-focused alternative capable of driving meaningful political and economic transformation in Akwa Ibom State and the country at large.
Welcoming him into the party, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson described Mr. James as a “dynamic, visionary, and purpose-driven young leader” whose entrance into the NDC would strengthen the party’s influence across the South-South region.
The latest development comes amid increasing momentum within the NDC following the recent entry of prominent political figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
