APC Delta North Primary: Ned Nwoko Rejects Okowa’s Victory, Alleges Manipulation and Collusion
Senator Ned Nwoko has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta North primary election, insisting that he defeated former Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, in what he described as a free and fair contest.
The Delta North lawmaker accused the Delta State government of interfering in the APC primary process and manipulating the final outcome in favour of Okowa, PulseNets learnt.
Nwoko made the allegation during an interview on ARISE News on Wednesday, where he maintained that the primary election was conducted across the 98 wards in Delta North and that results collated from the various wards showed he clearly emerged victorious.
The senator further disclosed that his camp possesses video recordings from all the wards to back his claim that he won the election, PulseNets reported.
“The APC primaries for Delta North were conducted across 98 wards. I possess video evidence from each ward demonstrating that I won the election, and I intend to present it to the party,” he said.
Nwoko also alleged that the process changed midway after party officials reportedly directed that ward-level results should no longer be publicly announced.
“Midway through the process, we were informed that no results would be disclosed at the ward level,” he stated.
“We were led to believe that the results would be revealed at the national level, and we expected the party to adhere to proper procedures.”
According to the senator, the eventual declaration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as winner did not reflect the actual votes cast during the APC Delta North primary election.
“Instead, we were abruptly given a result from a single ward that is closely associated with the former governor, and this result was utilized as the basis for declaring the winner,” he added.
Nwoko further accused Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of allegedly working with Okowa to influence the outcome of the exercise.
“The governor of Delta State is colluding with Senator Okowa,” Nwoko alleged during the interview.
The controversy has further heightened tensions within the Delta State chapter of the APC ahead of the next election cycle, especially amid the recent political realignments reshaping the state’s political landscape.
Senator Okowa, who served as governor of Delta State for eight years and was the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, recently emerged as a major figure within the APC following the alignment of his political structure with the ruling party in the state, PulseNets learnt.

Despite the outcome announced by the party, Nwoko maintained that he would challenge the result through the appropriate internal mechanisms of the APC.
As of the time of filing this report, the APC leadership in Delta State had yet to officially respond to the allegations raised by the senator.
