Mr. Ejemuta O. Victor, a tugboat captain, was savagely attacked by Nigerian Navy personnel assigned to Aiteo Eastern Oil Exploration Company at the Santa Barbara flow station in Nembe, Nembe LGA, Bayelsa state.
The heinous occurrence allegedly occurred in the early hours of morning (1st February, 2023) at Aiteo’s Santa Barbara flow station.
According to reports, the Nice 2 Tugboat captain was beaten up by Navy personnel commanded by OC Navy Elite 4 Houseboat S/Bar, NN SLT Hunjenukon Emmanuel, Navy Jacob, and Navy Admin on board (name unknown) for not providing tugboat security. According to the inquiry, the Navy Personnels sought the escort of the tugboat transporting oil pipelines, but the tugboat owners had already given the protection to another security agency. Hydra, a contracting business affiliated with Aiteo, owns Nice 2 Tugboat.
The Nice 2 Tugboat’s crew consists of Captain Ejemuta O. Victor and Engineer Edoka Dickson.
Concerned citizens of Nembe officially condemn the alleged attack on the tugboat captain and demand that the Navy hold all perpetrators of this heinous conduct responsible and make full restitution to the victim.
According to the Concerned Citizens, such acts by uniformed security officials are unacceptable in a civilised and democratic society where the rule of law must be allowed to flourish.
“It is a clear case of gross violation of the rights of the Mr. Victor” the group said.
Due to the attack by Navy personnel, the victim is already receiving medical care in an unidentified hospital as show in the video below;

The group also demanded that the Navy pay for Mr. Victor’s medical bills and provide adequate compensation for the brutality meted out to him, as well as an unqualified apology from the highest authority, while putting in place machinery to prevent future incidents of this nature within the Nembe axis.
“Such millitary personnels who do not respect host communities and honour human rights be sent back to the barracks to avert future damages and dangers.” the statement added.
