2027: Jonathan Better Than Buhari, Tinubu — Bode George
Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan’s performance in office stands far above that of the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in an interview obtained by PulseNets on Arise Television, the PDP stalwart explained that Jonathan’s time as president cannot be compared to the current realities under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to him,
“what is striking is the way people try to place Jonathan’s era side by side with Buhari and Bola Tinubu’s period. How possible is that? The will of the people must be respected.”
George, who spoke on the possibility of Jonathan returning to contest the 2027 presidential election, stressed that Nigerians know the difference when asked about life under Jonathan compared to what they are experiencing today.
He told PulseNets,
“If you look back at Jonathan’s period, ask any Nigerian, and they will tell you the difference between Buhari’s years and Tinubu’s present time. Just check the economic indicators. Is it the interest rate? Is it inflation? Or the value of the naira against the dollar?”
The PDP leader lamented that life has become unbearable for ordinary citizens, saying,
“Who is really happy now, whether rich or poor? You step into the market and goods that once sold for 5,000 naira are now 25,000 naira. Yet they claim it is about economic indices.”
George further argued that history and records would vindicate Jonathan, noting,
“Anyone who steps forward for leadership must present their record. Nigerians can compare how they felt during Jonathan’s administration with what they feel today under the APC. If Jonathan decides to contest and he wins, his record speaks for itself. It is far better than Buhari and Bola Tinubu combined, much better.”
