Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has dismissed reports claiming that the Federal High Court in Abuja halted the planned #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025.

Sowore, in a post obtained by PulseNets from his verified X handle, maintained that no court order exists prohibiting Nigerians from exercising their constitutional right to peaceful protest. He accused certain media outlets and the police of deliberately spreading misinformation to discourage public participation in the rally.

According to details learnt by PulseNets, the court did not issue any injunction banning the protest. Instead, Justice Umar reportedly declined the police request to halt the movement, ruling that the matter must first be heard on its merit before any restrictions could be considered.

Sowore was quoted as saying:

“There is no valid court order stopping the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest. What’s being circulated by the police was a secretly obtained ex parte motion that hasn’t even been served on any party. The document merely advised protesters to steer clear of sensitive zones like Aso Rock Villa, the National Assembly, Eagle Square, and Shehu Shagari Way.

He reaffirmed the movement’s resolve to proceed, stressing that the campaign for justice cannot be silenced.

“The protest date remains sacrosanct — this movement is unstoppable,” Sowore told PulseNets.

PulseNets also learnt that the Federal High Court had earlier rejected a police motion seeking to suspend the rally. Justice Umar ruled that the police must properly serve the defendants before any hearing, effectively clearing the way for the protest to proceed as planned.
