Trump Orders Pentagon to ‘Prepare for Possible Action’ in Nigeria Over Alleged Attacks on Christians

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he has instructed the Pentagon to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria, amid renewed allegations of violence against Christians in the country.

Trump, in a series of fiery posts on Truth Social obtained by PulseNets, accused the Nigerian government of failing to protect Christian communities from what he described as Islamic terrorists committing horrible atrocities.”

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action,” Trump wrote on Saturday. “If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet — just like these terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians! WARNING: The Nigerian government better move fast!

The former U.S. president, known for his hardline stance on foreign policy, also threatened to suspend foreign aid to Nigeria if what he termed “the killings of Christians” continue. He warned that the U.S. military “may very well go into that now disgraced country, guns-a-blazing.”

A day earlier, Trump had declared Nigeria a “country of particular concern,” saying that Christianity in the nation faces what he called an “existential threat.”

Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter,” Trump stated in another post seen by PulseNets. “I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN.’”

He further hinted that he would direct several lawmakers in the U.S. Congress to investigate the matter and provide detailed reports on the situation in Nigeria.

“The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and in numerous other countries,” Trump emphasized. “We stand ready, willing, and able to save our great Christian population around the world!”

Meanwhile, PulseNets learnt that the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed Trump’s claims, insisting that Christians are not being specifically targeted. The ministry maintained that the government remains committed to combating violent extremism in all its forms.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the ministry reiterated Nigeria’s dedication to unity and religious coexistence.

“Like America, Nigeria has no option but to celebrate the diversity that is our greatest strength,” the statement read. “Nigeria is a God-fearing country where we respect faith, tolerance, diversity, and inclusion — in line with the rules-based international order.”

PulseNets recalls that Trump had previously labeled Nigeria a ‘country of particular concern’ during his first term, but the designation was later revoked under former President Joe Biden’s administration.

With Nigeria’s religious demography nearly split between Islam and Christianity, the renewed rhetoric from Trump has sparked fresh debate in diplomatic and faith-based circles about the future of U.S.-Nigeria relations.
