PDP Convention: Wike, Fayose, Anyanwu Expelled as Delegates Unanimously Endorse Removal
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally expelled the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; and the party’s former National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, following a decisive vote at its national convention.
Delegates drawn from 17 states were present at the convention, where PulseNets learnt that elder statesman and PDP chieftain Chief Bode George initiated the motion calling for the removal of 11 influential members. He cited what he described as “persistent actions that undermine the party’s cohesion and collective progress.”
The motion was seconded by Hon. Samaila Buga, Chairman of the PDP in Bauchi State, after which delegates unanimously endorsed the expulsion. According to insiders who spoke to PulseNets, the affected members were accused of fuelling internal discord and filing multiple litigations that targeted the party’s interests.
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed later presented the motion for adoption and ratification, and delegates once again voted overwhelmingly in support, sealing the expulsion.
The convention attracted a high-powered delegation of party leaders, including Governor Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Governor Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Governor Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), and the PDP Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum.
Other notable figures in attendance included the Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro; former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Gombe State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo; and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, alongside several senior party stakeholders.

PulseNets learnt that the faction loyal to Wike had earlier sought to halt the convention through a series of court actions. However, the party obtained a favourable ruling from an Oyo State High Court, clearing the path for the convention to proceed without obstruction.
