Burna Boy Explains Why He Converted to Islam
Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artist Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has opened up about his ongoing spiritual struggles, admitting that despite converting from Christianity to Islam, he still feels unfulfilled in his quest for enlightenment.
In an interview obtained by PulseNets, the Afrobeats star reflected deeply on his personal journey through faith, revealing that the more he studies religious doctrines, the more uncertain he becomes about life’s true meaning.
“I grew up Christian and later converted to Islam,” Burna Boy told the interviewer. “But even after all that, I’m still trying to understand what’s really going on. The more I read and research, the more questions I have instead of answers.”
PulseNets learnt that Burna Boy’s comments stem from years of exploring spirituality beyond the confines of organized religion. He admitted that while his faith has evolved, his search for inner peace and personal truth continues.
“It’s not like I’ve stopped believing,” he reportedly said. “I’m just trying to find what truly connects me to the universe, not what others say it should be.”
This revelation comes months after fellow Nigerian singer 9ice also made headlines for discussing his spiritual transformation. During a viral chat with Nancy Isime, the Gongo Aso crooner revealed that he embraced the Ifa religion after suffering what he described as a spiritual attack that left him bedridden for half a year.
“If I had started practicing Ifa earlier, maybe things would have been different,” 9ice told Nancy Isime in a follow-up conversation.
