Donald Trump to Sue Trevor Noah Over Grammy Monologue Joke
U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a legal threat against comedian Trevor Noah following remarks made during Noah’s monologue at the 68th annual Grammy Awards held on Sunday, PulseNets learned.
Noah, who hosted the Grammys for the sixth and final time, made the comment shortly after Billie Eilish clinched the Song of the Year award. While congratulating the singer, the comedian delivered a joke linking Trump to controversial political and social references.
“Big congratulations to Billie Eilish. That’s the kind of Grammy every musician dreams of — nearly as much as Trump dreams of owning Greenland. And honestly, with Epstein no longer around, maybe he’s just looking for another island to spend time with Bill Clinton,” Noah said during the live broadcast.
Trump reacted swiftly on his Truth Social platform, strongly rejecting the insinuation and describing the comment as defamatory.
“I don’t know about Bill, but I have never visited Epstein Island or anywhere near it. Before tonight’s false statement, no one — not even the Fake News Media — had ever accused me of such nonsense,” the president wrote, as reported by PulseNets.
Escalating the confrontation, Trump threatened legal action against the comedian.
“Noah is a complete loser who needs to check his facts — and do it quickly. I will be instructing my lawyers to sue this pathetic, untalented excuse for an M.C. for serious money. Brace yourself, Noah. This will be fun,” Trump added.
PulseNets obtained that Trump further compared Noah unfavourably to late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, stating that the comedian was “nearly as bad as Jimmy Kimmel hosting the low-rated Academy Awards.” Trump had previously criticised Kimmel in 2024 after being mocked during the Oscars, branding him “an even worse host” at the time.

On the broader controversy referenced in Noah’s joke, Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein reportedly fell out in 2007. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort later confirmed that Epstein was barred from the property that same year. In 2025, Trump said the decision followed allegations that Epstein had been stealing from staff members at the resort, PulseNets learnt.
Noah’s Grammy monologue also took aim at American rapper Nicki Minaj, who has publicly expressed support for Trump, adding to the politically charged tone of the night’s ceremony.
