PDP Crisis Deepens as Group Orders Wike Loyalists to Vacate Wadata Plaza Following Appeal Court Judgment

The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to immediately vacate the party’s national headquarters located at Wadata Plaza in Abuja.

PulseNets learnt that the directive followed a recent judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal, which the group said effectively removed any legal justification for the continued occupation of the PDP secretariat by the faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed.

In a statement obtained by PulseNets and signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Obinna Nwachukwu, members of the faction were warned to leave the premises without delay or face removal through what the organisation described as “legitimate force.”

Nwachukwu maintained that the appellate court’s ruling in Appeal No. CA/IB/M.90/2026 had conclusively resolved major legal questions surrounding the lingering leadership crisis within the opposition party. He argued that the judgment left no constitutional space for any group lacking lawful authority to continue operating in the name of the PDP.

According to the statement, the judgment had “effectively stripped the recalcitrant elements of any legally recognisable authority, exposing their continued occupation of the party’s office as a brazen act of lawlessness, trespass, and political imposture.”

The PDP Professionals further explained that the Court of Appeal considered issues relating to the appearance of legal practitioner Dapo Durosaro on behalf of the PDP and Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, whom the group recognises as the party’s National Chairman.

PulseNets reports that one of the central questions before the appellate court was whether A.K. Ajibade, SAN, still possessed the constitutional powers of the National Legal Adviser to delegate legal authority on behalf of the party.

The group stated that the court held that Ajibade ceased to exercise the constitutional powers attached to the office following his suspension on November 1, 2025.

Quoting directly from the judgment, the organisation noted that “Any exercise of the power conferred on a party official by the party’s constitution, while a suspension subsists, is an exercise in futility.”

The statement further claimed that the Court of Appeal affirmed the resolution of the PDP’s 608th National Working Committee, which reassigned the duties of the National Legal Adviser to the National Directorate of Legal Services and authorised Dapo Durosaro to act on behalf of the party and its leadership.

The PDP Professionals also asserted that the appellate court observed that although Ajibade’s suspension lasted for one month, his tenure eventually expired in December 2025, rendering any subsequent claim to the office without legal foundation.
